New York Times bestselling author Karen Rose returns to the gritty world of Baltimore’s cops and prosecutors with a tale of danger and desire that will leave you breathless…

A car crashes in front of rookie PI Paige Holden’s home. And suddenly, she finds one of her pro bono clients dying in her arms—from a gunshot wound. With her last breath, the woman whispers cryptic words into her ear and hands her a blood-smeared flash drive.

Five years ago, State’s Attorney Grayson Smith put a murderer behind bars. But when Paige Holden shares the flash drive with him, its contents cast doubts on the conviction—and lead him and Paige into a world of blackmail, dark secrets, and a decades-long string of murders. An investigation they’ll survive only by trusting each other—and the truth.

"Another great book from Karen Rose.

We start of 6 years in the past with Crystal Jones waiting to meet the person she is blackmailing in a garden shed at a lavish party. We don't know why she is doing this but things don't go her way. She is strangled.

Paige Holden now lives in Baltimore, MA with her guard dog Peabody after leaving Minnesota after watching her best friend die and being attacked herself. She now works for PI Clay Maynord (who used to be a DC cop before his partner was killed). As she is walking her dog she is almost run over by an out of control minivan. After jumping out of the way she realizes that the van has been shot up and that the woman behind the wheel that has been shot is Maria Munoz. Maria and her mother in law came to Paige to try and help them prove that Maria's husband Ramon did not kill Crystal Jones 6 years ago. As Paige pulls Maria out of the van trying to stop the bleeding from the bullets wounds Maria tells her that she finally got the evidence needed to prove Ramon didn't do it and gives Paige a flash drive but that she can't go to the police with it as they are in on it. As Paige is holding Maria a sniper bullet kills Maria.

State attorney, Grayson Smith, is the one that prosecuted Ramon. Paige is determined to avenge the murdered woman and set an innocent man free and decides to go to Grayson with the proof. This leads to her being attacked in an underground garage where Grayson comes to her rescue. What Paige and Grayson start to find out is when they pull on one tread on Crystal's murder case many more unravel. As the body counts rise and many more attempts on the lives of Grayson and Paige we find the corruption in this goes all the way up.

I love reading a Karen Rose book. The words just flow. This was a 534 page book and you never felt like when is this going to end. We got to revisit many characters from previous books, some that had already had their HEA and some that I hope will be getting there HEA in the future."

No One Left to Tell The Baltimore Series Karen Rose Books Reviews

  • No One Left to Tell centered around Paige and Grayson and I loved both characters. They were strong, intelligent and had a very strong moral compass. I thought they were some of the most well developed characters she's written about and they had fantastic chemistry together.

The secondary characters really added to the book including Paige's protection dog and Grayson's family dynamics. I loved that the heroine was a black belt and could take care of herself but wasn't stupid and knew when she needed help/protection. After all karate can't stop a bullet. Grayson was protective but understood that Paige was a very capable woman. The suspense was gripping and creepy and although there were a lot of villains I didn't struggle to keep everyone straight. As usual with a Karen Rose book their were plenty of twists and turns to keep me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out all the intricacies of the plot! Another must read from Karen Rose.
  • PI Paige Holden is walking her dog when an out of control van comes flying straight towards her. She jumps out of the way then tries to help the driver, who is a woman Paige knows. She's the wife of a convicted murderer who has hired Paige to find the evidence to free him. She slips Paige a flash drive and says that the cops were involved. Then she is shot and killed.
State's Attorney Grayson Smith was the lawyer that put the husband away years ago. Grayson and Paige are thrust together trying to discover the truth about what really happened to many years ago. People keep dying. Someone is eliminating loose ends. And since Paige knows too much, she's a loose end. Now Grayson is trying to keep her alive. But Grayson has secrets too. Secrets that could ruin him. Can Paige and Grayson trust each other?
I've always like Karen Rose as an author. This book was no exception. I loved that she ties in characters from her previous books so we get a little 'update' on them. I loved that each of her characters are strong and independent people who are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves. But they are so much stronger when they rely on each other.
This book kept me guessing. I do with a few of the secrets were revealed a little sooner. It's gets confusing trying to keep track of who's keeping what secret. Sometimes that can distract from the actual plot of the book. But, Ms. Rose does do a great job tying all the pieces together by the end of the book.
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next in the series!

  • I loved the book. Rose’s books are all very well written dark romantic suspense in which there is a hero, a heroine, and a very sick and twisted killer. Her characters are always very well formed (psychologically as well as physically), their interactions with each other as well as secondary characters is believable, and she does research (gasp) on any and all subject matters she uses in her stories so that they make sense (gasp again). Another factor that I enjoy about Rose’s writing is that all her books are connected to one or two (sometimes three or four) previous books by secondary characters (I do like getting a peek at how past characters are doing), but except for her For Me trilogy* you in no way need to read those previous books.
If I have one complaint about her writings though, it would be that either the hero or the heroine (sometimes both) will have some serious baggage that will pop up and play a part in the story. I can also see that without this baggage they may not react to the story’s situation in such a way to move it in the direction the author wants it to go. Also a word of warning These books are DARK romantic suspense. There are situations (not graphic) in which victims are tortured, raped, and murdered. There are a couple of her books in which the crimes involve children, and No One Left to Tell is one of them. While there are no graphic scenes relayed to the reader, there is a scene in which the victim, now older, talks about what happened to her. Rose, however, while incorporating these parts into the story focuses more on the solving of the crimes and the justice obtained (of course there’s also a little romance).
